The Proposal Story

On October 5th, 2014, Chelsea expected to have a nice dinner with her friend after work on Andrew's dime. When Chelsea and Andrew first started their long distance relationship, Andrew would ask some of Chelsea's friends to take her out on dates for him. This was supposed to be just another one of those kinds of nights and Andrew was supposed to be writing a paper in Philly.

Chelsea's friend happened to work near the Yerba Buena Gardens in San Francisco, a place where Chelsea and Andrew mutually decided that they wanted to be more than just friends.

Andrew took Chelsea down to the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Waterfalls in the Garden, got down on one knee, and asked her what her only comfort was in life and in death (Heidelberg Catechism Question 1). She responded: "That I am not my own, but belong in body and soul, both in life and in death, to my faithful Savior, Jesus Christ." Andrew asked her a second question, "Who do you belong to?" She repeated, "to my faithful Savior, Jesus Christ." Andrew concluded, "Well, I want you to belong to me too. Will you marry me?"

Of course Chelsea said yes.

After work, Chelsea went to the Gardens that she and her friend was supposed to meet at, wishing for a real date with Andrew instead of this substitute date.  When Chelsea looked up, her wish had come true. Andrew was standing before her in a tie. She knew this had to be serious because this was the hottest day of the year and Andrew hates getting sweaty, especially when he has to wear a tie.
